"How Can My Child Learn Without A Teacher in the Same Room?" - Part 2 of 5

At the Central Pennsylvania Digital Learning Foundation (CPDLF), we hear this question often. As a virtual public K-12 school, we understand that this myth stems from traditional views of education. However, cyber school can be a transformative experience, fostering skills like self-direction, academic tenacity, and curiosity.

In our first installment of this mini-series, we introduced Learning Guides, the dedicated mentors who help CPDLF Learners thrive. Now, let’s turn our focus to another essential part of the CPDLF experience: Learning Coaches.

Empowering Learning Coaches: The Role of Parents and Guardians
A critical piece of the CPDLF puzzle is the role of Learning Coaches. At CPDLF, parents and guardians are empowered to become active participants in their child’s education. As Learning Coaches, they:

  • Create supportive home environments conducive to learning.

  • Help establish routines and systems for time management.

  • Provide encouragement and mentorship, ensuring their child stays motivated and focused.
We recognize that not every parent or guardian feels equipped for this role, which is why CPDLF offers training, resources, and ongoing support to help Learning Coaches succeed. By becoming champions of the virtual learning ideal, Learning Coaches play a pivotal role in enabling their children to flourish in this non-traditional learning model.

Next, in Part 3, we’ll look at how our PA-certified instructors help our Learners understand course material, master skills, and become intellectually curious. Stay tuned!
